Meet your teachers

Suzie Houlihan

I have been working with this technique after discovering the book The Power of The Actor while in drama school and was immediately hooked.

I have spent time in Ivana’s studio prior to qualifying as a coach and as soon as Ivana started teaching online I was in. I have participated and attended numerous masterclasses throughout the UK and Europe and I still regularly work with Ivana in her weekly Zoom classes.

I am a massive lover of comedy and love creating connected comedic performances. As a writer I use this process to shape storylines and create characters that are dynamic, driven and memorable.

I love coaching actors and helping them to use what triggers them to create their most authentic energised performances and transform them not just as an actor but as a person too.

After training full-time for a year as an actor with Ivana Chubbuck, Ivana invited me into her teacher training programme to share her Technique here in London, becoming accredited in 2021. (I remained a full-time member of her masterclass until August ’25.)

After drama school I realised something in my work wasn’t quite landing, so I went looking for the best help I could find. As a bit of a Brad Pitt fanboy, I’d long been fascinated by the work Ivana was doing with actors in Los Angeles — and when I finally trained with her, the difference in my work was immediate.

In 2021 I founded Step 12 Studio to create the kind of training I had always been looking for myself: small, intensive classes where every actor gets real time on the floor while developing a clear, repeatable process for auditions, performance, and their career.

My goal is simple — to help actors build a clear, reliable process so they can do their best work when it matters most.

Recent highlights from actors in my classes include roles in the West End productions All My Sons and The Hills of California.

Feature film credits include
Eloise, Pillion, and A Gangster’s Life.
Television credits include
FightlandBrassicVeraSeeking Persephone, and The Lady Grace Mysteries.

Other recent successes include actors signing with BMA Artists and Carina Skinner Management.

If you’re ready to start your Chubbuck journey, I’d love to help.

and we’ll get you started.

I trained at The University of Chichester gaining a degree in Dance and Performing Arts. After a long stint of shows including The Elephant Man, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and premiering The Tree, I then headed over to New York in 2014 to train at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. On graduating I then pursued a more TV and film oriented career and landed roles in Mr Selfridge, Our little Haven, The Party, the new Matilda film and Sherwood.

In 2018 I went over to LA and had the privilege to train with both Ivana and Claire, gaining my accreditation in coaching The Ivana Chubbuck Technique for both Youth and adults.

My number one passion is empowering my students and building their confidence. I personally believe drama should be taught as part of the core curriculum in every person’s life. In an era that does not allow for creative subjects to be taught in schools it is excruciatingly important now more than ever for children and adults to be allowed to explore their imaginations and creative passions which is why I fell in love with performing when I was ten years old and still love it today."

Alongside coaching acting,
I now own a children's performing arts school in London and run classes in Drama, Dance and Singing for children ages 4-16.

I am an actor, theatre-maker, and teacher with over three decades of professional experience working in Ireland, the UK, and Australia. My career spans one-man shows, classical and contemporary drama, comedy, and musical theatre, as well as a wide range of screen work including feature films, television dramas, soap operas, and sitcoms.

I first encountered the Chubbuck Technique in 2010, and it immediately reshaped my approach to acting. In 2011, I travelled to Los Angeles to study intensively with Ivana Chubbuck, deepening my understanding through months of focused training. I completed my formal teacher training in 2024, bringing a long-standing, lived relationship with the Chubbuck technique into my own teaching practice. My work is instinct-driven and actor-focused. I help actors unlock fearless, truthful performances by connecting deeply to themselves, their characters, and the given circumstances. At the heart of my teaching is a belief in emotional bravery, raw truth, and purposeful choices — the elements that make storytelling compelling and alive. I have taught Acting for Camera at Mountview since 2020 and currently run weekly scene study classes at Chubbuck Studio London. Alongside this, I lead a range of bespoke workshops, equipping actors with practical, repeatable tools for bold, authentic, and dynamic work across stage and screen.
